They detailed how the young targeted individual received manipulated images with their face imposed on an AI-generated body, accompanied by a blackmail threat.

“Thankfully, the young person targeted was very sensible and immediately alerted their parents,” club representatives stated.

Local authorities, responding quickly, have been in touch, urging schools and community groups to educate youngsters and parents about the dangers of online blackmail. Inspector McCullough highlighted ongoing efforts to address these new threats through thorough investigations.

The local police in Portadown received an online blackmail report on January 6th. They have reiterated the importance of young people speaking to their parents or guardians about any suspicious online interactions.
