Alexander Skarsgård, known for pushing fashion boundaries, made a statement at the Zurich Film Festival on October 1. The actor, 49, donned a provocative silk shirt from the Magliano Spring 2025 collection. The shirt's bold print featured racy images like dildos, lubricants, and a cracked cellphone. Skarsgård paired the daring top with relaxed pinstripe trousers and sleek black leather shoes, completing his edgy look.
The risqué ensemble wasn't just a fashion choice – it mirrored the themes of his latest project, Pillion. Directed by Harry Lighton, the film delves into the intricacies of an unconventional relationship. Skarsgård stars as Ray, a biker gang member, while Harry Melling plays Colin, a young gay man exploring a submissive dynamic with him. Skarsgård emphasized that the film aims to portray the emotional and sometimes awkward facets of intimacy, steering clear from purely graphic scenes.
“I often find sex on screen quite boring,” Skarsgård shared with Variety. “During Colin’s birthday and that orgy scene, a lot happens emotionally. We wanted it to be clumsy and weird. Sex can be awkward and funny.”
Skarsgård is no stranger to daring fashion, having previously turned heads with glittering sequined pants at Cannes and thigh-high leather boots on another red carpet. As for Pillion, A24 acquired the U.S. distribution rights in October 2024. While the release date remains under wraps, anticipation is building for the film's unique take on relationships.
