FRISCO – Despite the Dallas Cowboys boasting an impressive offensive record, averaging 30.8 points and 384.1 yards per game, the team is grappling with a 3-4-1 record. Their numbers shine brightly, standing second in the NFL for points and yards and third for yards per play. At home, those figures soar even higher to 41.3 points per game.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer did not mince words when discussing the current state of his team. "None of us have done good enough," he bluntly stated, prioritizing overall performance over offensive statistics. "That's real. Our scorecard is what it is. And that’s not just defensively. That’s offensively. We’re a football team that’s 3-4-1. You can take stats on offense and shove them up your ass as far as I’m concerned. It is what it is. We want to win."
“I don’t really talk a whole lot about that, I just focus on us trusting the process,” Schottenheimer said, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the upcoming game against Arizona.
As the NFL trade deadline looms on November 4, the Cowboys find themselves with the second-most salary cap space in the league at $31.2 million. This financial flexibility opens doors for bolstering their defense, either by acquiring new talent or retaining key players like wide receiver George Pickens.
Amid swirling speculation and trade rumors, Schottenheimer is urging his team to tune out the distractions. "There’s always going to be noise and these guys can’t control the noise," he remarked, reiterating the need for focus and preparation as they gear up for their match against Arizona.
