While "The Hunting Wives" may be packed with intense drama and steamy scenes, the reality of filming those spicy moments was less glamorous. Brittany Snow, one of the show's stars, opened up about the unexpected challenges she and co-star Malin Akerman faced during those scenes. Appearing on the "Not Skinny Not Fat" podcast on October 26, Snow shared a behind-the-scenes scoop that the cast actually fell ill before filming the intimate moments.
During the chat with podcast host Amanda Hirsch, Snow humorously revealed, "There were so many mints on that set... to the point where both of us got sick." She highlighted the importance of mutual respect and comfort when filming such scenes, noting that women tend to be more considerate of each other's boundaries.
“It was just so nice and so different,” Snow remarked, emphasizing the care she and Akerman showed each other while filming.
Snow further praised Akerman for her attentiveness and consideration during filming. "Something really great about Malin is her awareness of everyone’s comfort," she said, noting Akerman's Swedish openness to nudity while also being conscious of body image concerns. Snow applauded how Akerman would offer to adjust her positioning to make her co-stars more comfortable, calling it "selfless and nice."
Snow also addressed the significance of portraying sex on-screen, especially for women over 40. She noted, "There is a stigma in Hollywood that once you reach 40, you are no longer seen as a sexual being, which is completely false." Snow celebrated the show's role in challenging this stereotype, acknowledging that "you don’t stop having sex when you are 40."
Akerman also shared her perspective during the "She Sees Me: The Power of Female Friendship" panel on October 11. She admitted the initial nerves before shooting their first intimate scene together but recalled a pivotal moment of mutual empowerment. "I just went, 'Britt, you know what? We're f*cking beautiful,'" she said, stressing the importance of supporting each other.
Akerman spoke about overcoming insecurities, focusing on celebrating their bodies and encouraging each other to enjoy the process. "Let's just be in it together and let's support each other right now," she recalled, embracing the confidence they both worked hard to achieve.
Ultimately, their collaboration not only brought authenticity to the screen but also highlighted the power of support and friendship in navigating the challenges of Hollywood.
