Chiranjeevi Battles Deepfake Scandal

Veteran actor Chiranjeevi has taken decisive action after AI-generated deepfake videos, falsely depicting him in inappropriate content, appeared on adult websites. On Monday, he filed a formal complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police, sparking an investigation under multiple legal provisions. The case involves serious sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

Legal Action to Restore Image

In the complaint, Chiranjeevi expressed deep concern over the potential damage to his esteemed reputation. He noted that the fabricated videos are not only degrading but also manipulate public perception, tarnishing the image he has meticulously built over the years. “These acts not only inflict personal and emotional distress upon me and my loved ones but also mislead the general public by creating a false and defamatory narrative that contradicts my true character and public image,” he stated in his complaint.

“These manufactured videos are being maliciously used to portray me in obscene and vulgar contexts, thereby distorting public perception and undermining decades of goodwill," Chiranjeevi said.

Protecting Personal Integrity

Chiranjeevi's move to involve legal authorities highlights the increasing challenges celebrities face with the rise of deepfake technology. The actor's proactive step seeks not only to shield his family from distress but also to send a message about the importance of digital responsibility. As the case unfolds, it will likely set a precedent for how similar issues are handled in the entertainment industry.
