Authorities from the Anti-Gang Division of the Security Prefecture of Fez made a dramatic arrest on Sunday, March 29, as they took a 46-year-old man into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking. The arrest occurred at the bustling Fez railway station, shortly after the suspect's arrival on a train from the northern regions of Morocco.
Supported by information from the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, the operation was meticulously planned. Upon searching the suspect, law enforcement officers uncovered a staggering 7,198 narcotic pills. This haul included 4,200 pills of the medical variety "Rivotril" and 2,998 "Ecstasy" pills, alongside a sum of money believed to be connected to drug sales.
The arrested man is now embroiled in a judicial investigation, conducted under the watchful eye of the public prosecutor's office. The probe aims to unravel the full scope of this illicit operation and bring any accomplices to justice.
“This arrest is a significant step in curbing the flow of illegal substances into the region,” a source close to the investigation commented.
As the investigation progresses, authorities remain committed to dismantling the networks responsible for such dangerous criminal activities. The Fez arrest underscores the relentless efforts being made to protect communities from the scourge of drug trafficking.
