Amidst a tense government shutdown, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has dropped a bombshell, revealing that several illegal aliens convicted of serious crimes like sex offenses and attempted murder have received significant Medicaid benefits funded by taxpayers. HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill shared specific cases on X, adding fuel to the ongoing political fire.
O’Neill highlighted these controversial instances to challenge claims by some Democrats that such cases are nonexistent. "Abraham Pineda Tovar is an 84-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala convicted of sex offenses. He received $7,829 in free taxpayer-funded healthcare through Medicaid," O’Neill stated, emphasizing that Democrats are demanding the continuation of Medicaid funding for such individuals as a condition to resume government operations.
In his posts, O’Neill outlined several high-profile cases, each adding to the heated debate over Medicaid allocations. Take 38-year-old George Bestman, a convict of sexual assault in 2021, who reportedly received over $5,500 in benefits. Then there's Elias Nyawenda, 33, whose sex crime convictions didn’t stop him from receiving a staggering $176,756 in Medicaid aid.
Another contentious case involves Galuak Rotgai, a 41-year-old illegal alien convicted of attempted second-degree murder for a brutal baseball bat attack, receiving more than $34,000. Patrick Galoustian, 52, from Iran, also stirred controversy by securing over $7,500 in Medicaid despite multiple sexual assault convictions.
“The Democrats want to force American workers to pay for free healthcare for criminal illegal aliens, including murderers and rapists,” O’Neill wrote on X, further intensifying the debate.
With the government shutdown in full swing, O’Neill's revelations have stoked tensions, painting a vivid picture of the challenges at play. He criticized Democrats for allegedly forcing American workers to fund these benefits while impacting public servants, scientists, and others forced to work without pay due to the standoff.
This unfolding saga highlights the broader debate over immigration policies and public spending, with O’Neill's statements keeping the issue firmly in the spotlight. As the situation develops, many will be watching to see how both sides of the political aisle respond and what this means for the future of Medicaid and government funding.
