Hily's New Feature: 'Consent Guard' Puts Consent First

Hily, the dating app boasting a global user base of 39 million, is shaking things up with its latest feature designed to curb unwanted explicit content. The app has rolled out 'Consent Guard,' a tool aimed at stopping unsolicited nude images and cyberflashing. This innovative feature uses advanced machine-learning models and custom algorithms to screen for specific words in messages and photo content. If anything risqué is detected, Hily steps in to give you a heads-up: your match wants to send something explicit, and you'll only see it if you give the green light.

Empowering Users with Choice

Here's how it works: if you receive a notification about explicit content, you have the power to accept or decline. Meanwhile, the sender is prompted to request one-click consent. Should the recipient decide against it, or if the prompt goes unanswered, the conversation proceeds as if no spicy content was ever attempted. It's all about putting choice back in the user's hands.

“Unsolicited pics have never really worked: they're mostly just a turn-off,” said Dr. Mindy DeSeta, Hily's sexologist and educator. “Hily's new Consent Guard feature actually empowers your sexuality by putting you in charge of how you date, what you share, and how sexy you want to get.”

Built on Expertise and Cultural Insights

Hily developed 'Consent Guard' with insights from Dr. Mindy DeSeta, a sexologist and sex educator, who helped shape the feature based on cultural understanding of consent and harassment. This isn't Hily's first foray into user privacy and comfort – the 'Consent Guard' replaces the older Explicit Filter feature, which blurred images for user review. With up to three consent requests per chat, users can adjust their preferences anytime, setting the vibe as hot, chill, or "not tonight, please."

Addressing a Broader Issue

The introduction of 'Consent Guard' comes in response to a broader issue affecting many women today. A report from YouGov indicated that over a third of women under 40 have received unwanted sexual images from someone who isn't a partner. Other dating apps like Bumble have tackled this problem too, with features like Private Detector to identify nude photos. Hily is taking a fresh approach, making sure that users have control over the intimacy levels in their conversations.
