In a bizarre late-night encounter in Pattaya, a foreign couple found themselves in hot water – literally – when hotel staff intervened in their intimate escapade near a revered spirit house. The incident unfolded at Dream Hotel Pattaya, situated on Sai Song Road, when a vigilant staff member, Piatra, noticed the couple's indiscreet activities and decided to take matters into his own hands.
According to Piatra, a 41-year-old employee from Cambodia, the couple had set up a makeshift romantic setting, complete with a mat and candles, beside the spirit house. As he was tending to the plants outside on February 9, he couldn't ignore their public display of affection. Piatra's instinctive reaction was to chase them off with a spray of water, hoping to end the inappropriate behavior.
“I thought it was necessary to act quickly to prevent such behavior in a sacred area,” Piatra explained.
The situation quickly escalated into a heated argument, with the foreign man allegedly attacking Piatra before fleeing. The hotel employee, who recorded the incident to caution others, noted that the couple were not guests at the hotel and speculated they might have been filming adult content.
This isn't the first time the location has been misused, as Piatra revealed previous instances of inappropriate conduct in the area. As a proactive step, the hotel plans to enhance lighting around the spirit house to discourage similar incidents.
Coincidentally, this incident echoes recent occurrences in Thailand where couples have faced consequences for public indecency. Just last week, a French couple faced deportation after a viral video showed them engaging in similar behavior on a tuk-tuk in Phuket. Meanwhile, a Russian pair was fined for their escapade on Jomtien Beach.
