Japanese television actor and businessman Haga Kenji finds himself in legal hot water once again, following his recent arrest by the Okinawa Prefectural Police. The charges? Allegations of sexually assaulting two women in an Okinawa bar last year.
The alleged incidents reportedly occurred on March 27, 2025, between 7:05 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. According to the police report, Haga is accused of forcibly kissing and inappropriately touching two women: an eatery employee in her thirties and a self-employed woman in her fifties. This bar, notably, was not a venue offering sexual services. The women came forward with their allegations in August of 2025, leading to Haga's arrest on February 10.
“This isn’t the first time Haga's actions have brought him under police scrutiny,” a concerned fan commented online.
While the current charges have yet to see a courtroom, this is not Haga's first brush with legal troubles. Back on June 30, 2007, he was arrested alongside four others in a blackmail case involving a real estate agent in Osaka, Japan. The group allegedly coerced the agent into forgiving a staggering 400 million yen debt, which translates to about $2.5 million USD.
As of now, there has been no public statement from Haga regarding the current allegations, and it remains unclear if he has admitted to the accusations. However, it’s known that he was familiar with both accusers and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol during the incidents.
The news of Haga's arrest has sent ripples through his fanbase and the Japanese entertainment industry, reigniting conversations about accountability and conduct. Fans and industry insiders are eagerly awaiting further updates on the case as it develops.
With legal proceedings pending, the spotlight remains on Haga Kenji, as audiences and the public watch closely to see how this situation unfolds.
