Iconic '90s Nostalgia: 'American Pie' Lives On

Every era has its defining movies, and for the late '90s, American Pie is a standout. Released in 1999, this coming-of-age comedy remains a touchstone for teen films of its time. Actor Jason Biggs, who starred as the unforgettable Jim, recently faced a hilarious and cringe-worthy challenge – explaining his infamous NSFW pie scene to his son.

The Talk: Pie, Fame, and Laughs

For Jason Biggs, the star of the American Pie franchise, fame came with a unique challenge: that notorious apple pie scene. The film, which has spawned a nine-movie franchise and even caught the attention of Taylor Swift recently, is still a hot topic. It's no wonder Biggs' 11-year-old son, Sid, was curious about the pie antics his dad was known for.

“Our sons kept hearing about American Pie and pie and [asking], 'Daddy, what do you do with the pie?'” Biggs recounted, laughing at the memory. “It's my version of a sex talk, right?”

During an appearance on The Julia Cunningham Show, Biggs shared how he and his wife, Jenny, decided to clear the air while they could still control the narrative. In a candid family moment, they screened the scene for Sid, who, despite his initial embarrassment, couldn't help but laugh.

Public Encounters and Pie Fame

Taking the pie talk public wasn't all sunshine and laughs. Biggs recalled a moment when a passerby in New York shouted a less-than-polite reference to his character, thankfully outside his sons' earshot. Yet the situation was a reminder of how pervasive his fame from the film still is.

In the end, even though Sid guessed the pie scene's content, Biggs handled the situation with humor and grace. "He laughed and laughed," Biggs said. "He did say I was a good actor and, you know what, at the end of the day, that’s all that matters." With fatherly pride, Biggs took the moment in stride, much like he did back in 1999 when he first filmed the scene.

So, what's next? Perhaps the next discussion will tackle another scene that may not hold up today. But if Biggs' good-natured approach is any indication, he'll handle it like a pro.
