In a significant bust, Kira police are diving into a suspected human trafficking and pornography case after raiding a residence in the Mbalwa Buyinja Zone. There, officers discovered 27 young women who were reportedly participating in online adult content activities. This startling discovery has sparked a deeper investigation into the operations allegedly taking place within the residence.
The raid, driven by intelligence gathered on May 18 at around 8 PM, led officers to an enclosed residence in Kyaliwajjala, Namugongo Division. This intelligence suggested that a group of young women was being held under suspicious circumstances. "Police immediately responded to the scene," stated Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, highlighting the urgency and gravity of the situation.
“Police immediately responded to the scene,” Kawala said in a statement.
During the surprise raid, law enforcement found the women, aged between 17 and 26, residing in cramped conditions across three rooms. Equipment allegedly used for producing online adult content was also seized, including laptops, cameras, and 10 adult devices. This discovery has prompted further inquiries into the nature of their activities and the network potentially orchestrating this operation.
Currently, the 27 females and one male suspect are in police custody, cooperating with ongoing investigations by recording statements. Preliminary findings suggest these women might have been drawn into commercial online adult content work. The authorities are making concerted efforts to track down and apprehend those behind the recruitment and organization of such activities.
While police have not yet released the identities of those detained, nor confirmed any formal charges by Tuesday evening, the case continues to unfold with a focus on dismantling the suspected trafficking and pornography ring.
