F(x)'s Krystal recently opened up about her daring role in the movie Cobweb, where she took on her first ever NSFW scene. The film, set in the 1970s, centers around a film director fixated on perfecting a movie's ending. Boasting a starry lineup, the movie features acclaimed actors like Song Kang Ho, Im Soo Jung, Oh Jung Se, and Jeon Yeo Bin.
In the movie, Krystal portrays Han Yu Rim, an up-and-coming actress entangled romantically with the character Kang Ho Se, a notorious casanova played by Oh Jung Se. The film includes an intimate bedroom scene between Krystal's character and her on-screen boyfriend, a moment she described as crucial to the film’s storytelling.
Addressing the media, Krystal expressed her comfort with the scene, asserting its importance and her satisfaction with the filming process. She noted, "It was a scene in the movie (inside the movie) that was absolutely necessary. I didn’t have any issues while filming it, and I think I did well. I think Oppa helped me out a lot."
“When I would ask Oppa, 'What do I do here?' he would match lines with me. He is an idea bank and is full of ad-libs, so it was surprisingly fun acting with him. He is so sweet. He helped me a lot so that I could act comfortably.” – Krystal
Krystal praised her co-star Oh Jung Se for his supportive nature, sharing how his improvisational skills and kindness made the experience enjoyable and eased her nerves. She emphasized their collaborative effort, crediting him for helping her perform confidently.
Despite high expectations due to its ensemble cast, Cobweb didn’t quite live up to the buzz, selling only 313,082 tickets and earning just under ₩3.00 billion KRW (around $2.15 million USD). This was a significant shortfall compared to its production budget of ₩9.60 billion KRW (approximately $6.87 million USD).
Nonetheless, Krystal's performance didn't go unnoticed, earning her accolades such as the Best New Actress award at the 2024 Buil Film Awards. With its unique premise and compelling performances, Cobweb remains a notable entry in Krystal's burgeoning film career.
