Madison Prewett, known for her time on "The Bachelor," is sharing her personal journey of overcoming "secret sexual sin." In a heartfelt discussion on "The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast," Prewett, 29, opened up about how her struggles began at an early age. "Around 13, 14, I got introduced to pornography at a young age by a friend," she revealed. "That started a long journey and battle for me with porn and masturbation." These experiences, she explained, shrouded her life in shame and secrecy.
Despite outwardly portraying a life of purity and faith, Prewett described living a double life. "I’m saving myself for marriage, I have my virgin card, I’m following God," she said. "But behind closed doors, I was living in constant secret sin." This internal conflict persisted throughout her high school years until she found the courage to confess during college.
Prewett's path to freedom involved breaking the cycle of secrecy and shame. She told listeners, "I finally was able to break free from that addiction and that cycle." The fear of judgment often kept her silent, fearing that friends and family might see her differently. However, confession became a turning point. "To kill shame is to confess shame," she emphasized, adding that bringing things into the light is crucial for healing.
“Most of the time when you share that secret sin or that shameful thing...you feel this relief and you feel this freedom.”
Married to Grant Troutt since 2022, Prewett explained how her confession brought a sense of lightness to her life. The couple welcomed their daughter, Hosanna, in 2025, and Prewett continues to live in the freedom she found by sharing her story.
Reflecting on her journey, Prewett shared on the "Stay True" podcast that she’s been free from her struggles with porn and masturbation for nearly a decade. "This has been a struggle for me since middle school," she admitted, recounting how it once enslaved her. Thanks to her faith and the support of her community, Prewett has been able to overcome what once marked her life so profoundly.
