In a case that's captivated Malaysia, a 29-year-old technician, Muhammad Imran Abdullah, has entered a guilty plea in Johor Bahru to a series of grave charges. These involve not just physical sexual assault but also the creation of child sexual abuse material, affecting three young victims aged between five and seven. This shift in plea occurred in two separate Sessions Courts, drastically changing the course of the legal proceedings.

The allegations against Muhammad Imran are severe. He admitted to four counts of sexual assault under Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. These charges carry a hefty penalty, with a potential 20-year prison term and corporal punishment if convicted. The accusations of producing explicit materials are equally serious, with separate charges under Section 5 of the same act. If found guilty, these charges could land him a 30-year sentence and a minimum of six lashes.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on April 5, 2024, in both a bedroom and an outdoor location in Kampung Pasir Putih, Pasir Gudang. In addition to these charges, Muhammad Imran had previously changed his plea to guilty on February 27 for trafficking three newborns, an act punishable under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act (ATIPSOM) 2007, which may result in a life sentence or a minimum of five years' imprisonment and whipping.

Awaiting Sentencing

With the legal representation of Mohamed Imran Mohamed Sam and Amar Ajwad Kalki Muhammad Azali Kalki, Muhammad Imran is now awaiting sentencing. Judges Nor Aziati Jaafar and Madihah Zainol have scheduled the facts of the case and sentencing for March 13. The prosecution is spearheaded by Deputy Public Prosecutors Nor Fadilah Johanuddin and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin, who are tasked with presenting the case to ensure justice is served.
