In a stunning show of philanthropic power, YouTube sensation MrBeast, alongside creator Mark Rober, has outdone himself with TeamWater. This ambitious campaign surged past its $40 million goal, setting a new standard for creator-led charity efforts. Launched on August 1, 2025, TeamWater partnered with WaterAid to provide clean water to 2 million people across six continents, impacting lives for decades.
The campaign's momentum built rapidly, thanks to the collaboration of over 10,000 creators worldwide. These influencers collectively reached an impressive audience of over 3 billion subscribers, demonstrating the vast potential of digital communities to bring about real-world change.
To mark the momentous achievement, MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank his supporters. "We did it, guys," he exclaimed, celebrating the collective effort that reached every continent except Antarctica. "This campaign will change the lives of 2 million people for decades. Thank you to more than 10,000 creators who supported this mission."
“It’s not 200 people, it isn’t 20,000—it’s 2 million people who are now getting access to clean water because of TeamWater.”
Donaldson emphasized the profound impact of the initiative, highlighting the exponential difference these efforts will make in water-insecure regions.
TeamWater's success was punctuated by a record-breaking charity livestream on Kick. In a collaborative effort with Adin Ross and xQc, MrBeast helped raise over $12 million in just 15.5 hours. This feat earned a Guinness World Record for the most money raised in a single livestream. Not only did the event capture viewers' attention with heartfelt moments, but it also saw MrBeast firmly reject a $5 million offer from Stake's CEO, Eddie Craven, affirming his stance against gambling.
Adding to the excitement, adult content creator Sofie Rain pledged over $1 million, expressing her support for the cause: "This is an awesome cause… I just want to support this because it's awesome."
The overwhelming success of TeamWater is a testament to the power of collaboration in the digital age. MrBeast credited the diverse group of creators, from mega-influencers to smaller channels, who produced content to rally support. "$40 million is such a ridiculous sum of money. I could never raise that on my own. It only happened because thousands of creators came together," he stated.
WaterAid plans to channel the funds into projects in Africa, Asia, South America, and underserved areas in the U.S. and Europe. These initiatives will focus on sustainable clean water infrastructure, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education, ensuring long-lasting benefits for these communities.
Reflecting on his personal experiences in water-insecure areas, MrBeast shared, "I’ve seen firsthand what the lack of clean water does—kids get sick, families struggle, and communities can’t thrive. For 2 million people, that’s going to change." This monumental effort signals a hopeful shift towards global awareness and action, powered by the digital community's reach and compassion.
