Nate Diaz Unleashes on Daniel Cormier

Nate Diaz finds himself in the spotlight again, but this time it's not for his anticipated return to the octagon. In a fiery interview with Theo Von on This Past Weekend, Diaz took aim at former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Diaz's outburst came after Cormier questioned his skills and status in the UFC amid rumors of his impending comeback at the Sphere in 2024.

Despite Cormier later clarifying he harbors no ill will towards Diaz—whom he referred to as a "B—-"—the Stockton native didn’t hold back. He launched into a critique of Cormier’s career choices, questioning not only his transition to an analyst role but also his fighting prowess.

“If that’s what you do, you’re a b—-,” Diaz declared. “What happened in your career then? Why are you an analyst now, Mr. Know-it-all?”

Diaz suggests jealousy fuels their rivalry, pointing out that he earned more money in his fights despite never clinching a UFC title. He also dismissed Cormier as an excellent wrestler but not a top-tier fighter, citing his knockout by Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 as the only notable Cormier fight he witnessed.

Nate Diaz Takes Aim at Charles Oliveira

Not stopping at Cormier, Diaz redirected his fiery rhetoric towards the current BMF champion, Charles Oliveira. He questioned Oliveira's ownership of the title and claimed that fighters he defeated have also bested Oliveira.

“BMF belt, f—– b—- a— Oliveira, who I believe I’d beat the f—– s— out of,” he said. “He’s walking around with my belt!” Diaz expressed his frustration at the missed opportunity to challenge Oliveira, attributing it to UFC’s preference for pitting him against Conor McGregor instead.

Diaz revealed that UFC negotiations focused more on a potential trilogy with McGregor, which he wasn’t keen on, preferring to face top competitors at their peak instead of "killing off Conor when he’s on his last dying leg." This led him to pursue a bout with Mike Perry outside of the UFC, though his beef with Oliveira remains unresolved.

The Ongoing Feud and What’s Next

Diaz’s verbal jabs are just the latest in a longstanding feud with Cormier, which dates back to 2024 when Cormier questioned his ability to headline a major UFC event. Their back-and-forth has simmered over the years, with Diaz now escalating tensions. Given Diaz’s history of speaking his mind, these remarks could have ramifications on his potential return to the UFC.

With Diaz preparing for his crossover fight against Mike Perry under Most Valuable Promotions, the UFC comeback chatter continues to swirl. His incendiary comments towards Cormier and Oliveira could complicate his path back but also highlight his drive to face the best.

Undoubtedly, Nate Diaz remains a polarizing figure in MMA—unafraid to speak his truth, whatever the cost. Whether his comments will impact future fights remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: Diaz is not backing down.
