Hold on to your hats, because New Mexico has been crowned the most sexually adventurous state in the USA! With an eye-popping 10,585 racy Google searches per 1,000 people and 6.5 visits to adult stores per million residents each month, the Land of Enchantment isn't holding back. Favorites like BDSM, swinging, and al fresco fun have New Mexicans getting frisky 2.06 times a week on average.
“Sex is one of those topics people are endlessly curious about but still don’t always feel comfortable talking about openly,” shared Benjamin Sherman, CEO of Say It With A Condom.
Oregon follows close behind with an 85.93 score, boasting the highest rate of adult store visits nationwide at 11.3 trips per million adults. Meanwhile, Arkansas, with a solid 83.67, combines bedroom antics with online curiosity. Both states dabble in virtual sex, group activities, and voyeurism, proving their adventurous spirit.
The study from Say It With A Condom ranks states by everything from sexy online searches to steamy store visits. Rounding out the top 10, we have Vermont (81.64), North Dakota (76.75), and New Hampshire (70.10). These states, along with Connecticut (69.71), Washington (67.75), Rhode Island (66.75), and Alaska (66.02), show a penchant for role-playing and S&M. Notably, Alaska tops the nation in frequency, reporting 2.81 intimate encounters a week.
New York, known for its hustle and bustle, lands at a surprisingly modest 21st place with a score of 52.05. The Big Apple reports engaging in sex 1.39 times a week, slightly hotter than the national average. New Yorkers admit to indulging in virtual sex, voyeurism, and a dash of sadism.
On the flip side, the survey reveals some unexpected results. New Jersey keeps it conservative at 43rd place with a 32.74 score, recording only 350 kink-related searches per 10,000 people. Texas, typically associated with a larger-than-life attitude, crowns the bottom with a 22.74 score despite a secret love for orgies.
Even California falls short of expectations, ranking 40th with a 34.16 score. Surprisingly, Florida, known for its lively reputation, finishes 49th. However, The Sunshine State has its own quirky indulgences, favoring BDSM and a touch of golden showers behind closed doors.
According to Sherman, the key is exploring safely. "The key thing is that sex should always involve consent, communication, and protection. If people are exploring something new, they should feel able to talk honestly with their partner and make safe choices," he emphasized.
