Accusations Unveiled in Suffolk County

In Suffolk County, New York, a tax preparer's alleged scheme has raised eyebrows and criminal charges. Fabian Delgado, 34, from Bellport, is facing accusations of falsifying sales tax returns to pocket a hefty sum from an auto body shop in Patchogue. According to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney, Delgado allegedly used this ill-gotten money to cover personal expenses, including OnlyFans subscriptions.

The Extent of the Scam

Working at the auto shop between 2021 and 2025, Delgado is said to have calculated and communicated the business's tax obligations to the owner. However, his calculations allegedly underreported the shop's gross sales. This allowed him to pay reduced tax amounts to New York State while siphoning off the difference for himself. Over sixteen transactions, Delgado purportedly stole $260,687.22.

“Tax preparers are expected to operate with honesty and integrity. Those who defraud their clients and the state for personal gain must be held accountable,” stated Amanda Hiller, Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

Delgado's expenditures reportedly included mortgage payments, credit card bills, airfare, food, and his own income tax, with a slice going towards OnlyFans subscriptions.

Legal Repercussions Await

His arrest on May 14 led to charges of grand larceny in the second degree, alongside nine counts each of falsifying business records and filing false instruments. Delgado is set to appear in court on June 16, with potential sentencing ranging from five to fifteen years if convicted of the top charge.

The scandal highlights the critical role of trust and integrity in financial professions. Amanda Hiller praised the efforts of tax investigators and the district attorney's office for pursuing justice in such cases.
