Colombian-Canadian content creator Natalia Mogollon is making waves in the US with her thriving careers on OnlyFans and Twitch. At 38, Natalia's decision to move from Saskatchewan, Canada, to Austin, Texas, in 2021 marked a significant turning point, enabling her to be surrounded by like-minded creators that elevated both her reach and her career. Her impressive earnings from OnlyFans played a crucial role in securing an O-1B extraordinary artist visa, a feat she believes wouldn't have been possible through Twitch alone.
Originally from Colombia, Natalia hadn’t envisioned a future on OnlyFans. However, when the platform reached out in 2021 due to her substantial Twitch following of nearly a million, the opportunity turned into a lucrative venture. "If you don't have a following, you are not going to make money on the platform," she candidly shares, reflecting the common misconception about effortless earnings on the subscription site.
"Being a high earner on OnlyFans helped me get the O-1B visa, something I probably couldn't have done if I were just a Twitch streamer," Natalia explains.
Natalia's road to obtaining her first O-1B visa in 2022 was paved with hefty costs, ranging from $50,000 to $75,000 in legal and application fees. Expedited processing alone required a significant financial outlay, a move that ultimately saved years of waiting. She credits her OnlyFans success as a vital factor in affording these expenses. The visa renewal, set to last until 2028, underscores her commitment to leveraging the US opportunities to enhance her influencer career.
The move stateside has done wonders for Natalia, not only in terms of professional growth but also in forming a support network among other influencers. Residing near a robust creator community in Austin has been invaluable. It offers a sense of camaraderie in an industry often misunderstood, providing a safe space from the challenges unique to their field. "Moving here was one of my main motivations to advance my career," Natalia remarks.
As she considers her long-term plans, Natalia is certain of her intent to work in the US for the foreseeable future, though she doesn’t envision settling there permanently, wary of the country's healthcare costs. Despite the negative stereotypes surrounding OnlyFans creators, she stands by her choices without regret, affirming that she'd make the same decisions again if given the chance.
