Sachia Vickery Speaks Out on US Open Controversy

American tennis player and OnlyFans star Sachia Vickery is making headlines for more than just her moves on the court. Vickery has openly criticized Jelena Ostapenko in the wake of a racism controversy stemming from the US Open. The incident erupted after Ostapenko's heated exchange with fellow American Taylor Townsend, who is black, and sparked widespread discussion in the sports community.

The tension rose when Ostapenko, after losing to Townsend in straight sets, accused her of having "no class" and "no education" during their handshake. The comment quickly drew backlash, with many perceiving it as racially charged. Ostapenko, who ranks 26th globally, denied any racial intent, explaining her comments were about tennis etiquette, yet the damage was done, leading her to issue an apology on Instagram.

Vickery’s Bold Commentary

Known for her candid nature, Vickery didn't hold back her views on Ostapenko during an appearance on The Wayne Ayers Podcast. "I've played Ostapenko before years ago and I think my take is that she's not anyone that's new to that type of drama," Vickery remarked. She emphasized that Ostapenko's behavior on the court has often been questionable, recounting past encounters where Ostapenko offered half-hearted handshakes and curt comments.

“I think the main thing was calling a black woman in America uneducated. Saying things like, you have no class, you have no education... it was just low to say something like that in her home tournament, home crowd.”

Vickery even hinted at a more aggressive reaction had she been in Townsend's position, humorously referencing Kanye West's "ghetto university" line to illustrate her point. Her candidness reflects her own experiences and understanding of the sensitive issues surrounding race and sportsmanship.

OnlyFans and Athletic Pursuits

Beyond the controversy, Vickery has also made waves off the court with her OnlyFans account, which she claims helps support her tennis career financially. With a subscription price of $12.99 a month, her content offers what she describes as "too spicy for Instagram," a move that has sparked both criticism and curiosity.

While some fans argue she tarnishes the sport's reputation, Vickery insists that the additional income is crucial. "When you're on tour you're not automatically making a ton of money," she explained in an interview with the New York Post. Despite having earned over $2 million in her 14-year tennis career, Vickery underlines the high cost of maintaining a professional athlete's lifestyle. "It's an expensive sport, so I invest a lot of my money from there back into tennis," she added, justifying her choice to utilize the platform as a financial lifeline.
