Pornhub Launches 'Shorties' for Vertical Video Lovers

In a digital age where every swipe matters, Pornhub is jumping into the vertical video craze with its latest feature, 'Shorties.' Following a successful beta phase, the adult entertainment giant is officially launching this scroll-based, vertical video feed aimed at enhancing user experience by mimicking the ease of TikTok’s endless scroll.

The announcement came through a press release shared with Mashable, detailing how 'Shorties' allow viewers to enjoy trending videos with smart recommendations. Users can engage by liking, following, favoriting, or skipping videos, and even enjoy a full-screen viewing mode that clears away distracting icons and tags. Unlike TikTok and Reels, Pornhub's 'Shorties' has no limitations on video length, allowing fans to indulge without interruption.

Inclusivity and Growth

Pornhub isn't just stopping at heterosexual content. The new feature is also available on Pornhub Gay, and a specialized feed for lesbian audiences is already in the works. This move reflects Pornhub's conscious effort to cater to diverse audiences and content preferences.

"Shorties was created to meet audiences where they are at and reflect how people naturally consume content today," said Pornhub's VP of brand and community, Alex Kekesi. "With most of our online traffic coming from mobile, Shorties makes it easier than ever for fans and creators to connect through a seamless, dynamic experience."

Empowering Creators Amidst Scrutiny

While 'Shorties' is a nod to TikTok's successful FYP model, it also prioritizes the creator community. Videos often feature Pornhub's "More of Me" integration, providing links to a performer's fan sites and social media profiles. This feature is particularly beneficial for creators who face bans or shadowbans on mainstream platforms.

The launch of 'Shorties' coincides with increasing scrutiny on online adult content. Age-verification laws requiring personal data for age checks are being enacted globally, prompting Pornhub to exit certain regions that impose these regulations. However, Pornhub assures that 'Shorties' complies with its safety protocols, including moderation and verification through facial recognition, as well as consent forms for performers.

With 97% of its traffic now coming from mobile devices, according to Statista data from October 2023, Pornhub's pivot to mobile-centric features like 'Shorties' aligns with evolving digital consumption trends.
