Feeling stressed? The Poughkeepsie Galleria is about to become the place where you can legally let out all that pent-up aggression. Come November 1st, Wreck Room HV – Hudson Valley's premier recreational wrecking space – will open its doors to those ready to break and smash items in a safe and controlled environment. Whether you're frustrated from work or just need a fun weekend activity, this new venue offers a unique way to unwind.
To celebrate the grand opening, Wreck Room HV is offering visitors a free bottle smash and the chance to win a 50-inch TV and a free smash session. It's a perfect opportunity to let go and go wild, smashing things safely.
“I joined the chamber of commerce and am trying to start coordinating with some other members to host charity events," says Justin Corson, owner of Wreck Room HV.
While the main attraction is the chance to wreck items without facing consequences, Wreck Room HV is also looking to become a community hub. Owner Justin Corson is keen on giving back, as shown by his efforts to organize charity events with local businesses and support for first responders in the Hudson Valley. This initiative makes Wreck Room HV not just a place for stress relief, but also a community resource.
Community partnerships are in the works, aiming to utilize this wrecking space as a self-care outlet. Corson’s collaboration with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Community outreach officer is just one example of how he plans to make a positive impact.
Breaking things is only possible if there are things to break! So, Wreck Room HV is calling on the community to donate unwanted items. It's a win-win situation: clear out your cluttered basements, attics, and closets, while providing others with the chance to smash items for stress relief.
The team is looking for old TVs, computer monitors, keyboards, kitchen items like dishes and mugs, and even larger objects like washers and toilets. If you think it'll make a satisfying crash, they want it! Follow @wreckroomhv for updates leading up to their November 1st opening.
Speaking of the Poughkeepsie Galleria, the mall itself has undergone many changes over the past 34 years. For those with fond memories of shopping at places like Electric Ave. or Walden Books, a trip down memory lane could be just as therapeutic as a smash session. Remember the old tiled floors, funky 80s art, and the original food court? These flashback images might just stir up some nostalgia.
