Unraveling the Somerset County Harassment Case

In a troubling case out of Somerset County, a teacher is facing serious allegations of harassment against a teen already caught up in the fallout from a disturbing sex-crime case. Tracy Biondi, a special services teacher from Basking Ridge, is accused of launching a relentless campaign against the young victim of Brett Clay, a now-convicted sexual predator. Biondi's actions reportedly included sending obscene letters and anonymous social media messages targeting the teen.

Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School's Biondi, 56, has been charged with cyber-harassment and stalking. Despite these charges, officials from the school district have yet to comment on her current employment status. The allegations against her have left the community on edge as the details of this unsettling case unfold.

“The purpose of these meritless false statements was to harass and revictimize the victim. Biondi went so far as to call the juvenile victim a ‘liar’ despite knowing that Clay had admitted the allegations,” said Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald.

Inside the Case of Brett Clay

Earlier this year, Brett Clay, a South African native and former field hockey coach, pleaded guilty to an attempted sexual contact charge involving the same teen. As part of his plea deal, Clay received a three-year probation sentence and was ordered to leave the United States once his visa expired. Following this, Biondi allegedly took it upon herself to further traumatize the victim by disseminating slanderous content.

According to investigators, friends and family of the victim were alerted to anonymous handwritten letters containing obscene and defamatory comments about the teen. These letters were sent to friends, teammates, and classmates, intensifying the distress for the young victim.

Community Reactions and Next Steps

The Somerset County community is grappling with the revelations as Biondi awaits her day in court. Many are left wondering how someone with ties to local education and the field hockey community could engage in such behavior. Biondi's support for Clay during his legal battles has only added to the controversy.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information on this case to reach out to Somerset County Prosecutors Office Special Victim’s Unit or local law enforcement. As the investigation continues, the victim and her family are left to cope with the emotional aftermath of both Clay's and Biondi's actions.
