Get Ready to Time Warp Again!

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the cult classic film "Rocky Horror Picture Show," and the State Theater is pulling out all the stops to celebrate. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to support the Friends of the Springfield Arts Council (SAC) through donations. The State Theater, located at 19 S. Fountain Ave., will host this adult-themed event, so those under 18 should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

A Nostalgic Nod and a Spirited Celebration

Following the enthusiastic response to the Springfield Civic Theatre's earlier production of "Rocky Horror" this year, the decision was made to recreate the magic in a lively party format. Sarah McPherson from Friends of the SAC shared, "We wanted to keep that momentum and excitement going. There’s a lot of ‘Rocky Horror’ fans in Springfield." The event also serves as a nostalgic throwback to the 1980s when Springfield’s downtown theaters were the go-to places for "Rocky Horror" screenings.

“This is a nice kickoff to the Halloween season. Come out and relive the fun or make it a memorable first time with ‘Rocky Horror’ with us,” McPherson encouraged.

Dress to Impress – and Compete!

Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite "Rocky Horror" characters for a chance to win the costume contest. There’s more fun lined up with a push-up contest and an interactive Time Warp dance. Special guests, including actors from the recent production, will make appearances, bringing beloved characters to life once more.

Interactive Fun and Delicious Treats

Prop bags designed for specific scenes will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of the SAC. A "Rocky Horror"-inspired cocktail offers a taste of the theme, while the EAT food truck will cater to all hungry Time Warpers.

McPherson hopes that this vibrant celebration becomes a staple of Springfield's fall festivities, offering both long-time fans and newcomers a memorable experience.
