Leanne Wilson, a 41-year-old special needs educator, led a secret life as an OnlyFans model, offering explicit content under the alias 'Sophie Palmer'. Her dual identity came to light when a colleague stumbled upon her provocative Instagram profile through the app’s 'people you may know' feature. Shock and curiosity ensued as the link led to her more explicit OnlyFans page.
Wilson, who worked at Holbrook School for Autism near Belper, Derbyshire, faced suspension after the discovery. The profile, under her pseudonym, showcased two sexually provocative images and claimed to belong to a 'secondary school teacher'. This revelation triggered a misconduct hearing where her actions were scrutinized.
The misconduct panel found Wilson's behavior significantly below the expected standards for a teacher. However, they stopped short of imposing a ban, deciding that publicizing the incident was sufficient reprimand. Despite resigning from her position in May 2023, Wilson defended her actions, citing that her OnlyFans content was discreet, with her face not visible in the images.
“Ms Wilson maintained that any interactions were limited to a small number of subscribers and never crossed into more explicit territory,” noted panel chair Peter Walker.
Wilson admitted to setting up the account during a period of poor health and claimed she only used it for a few months in 2022. While her profile offered the chance for subscribers to control a Bluetooth vibrator, she asserted it was a fictional offer, never intended to materialize.
Despite the controversy, Wilson received support from former students and parents who praised her dedication and impact as a teacher. The panel concluded her actions were an isolated incident, unlikely to recur, thus deciding against a professional ban.
Today, Wilson has shifted to a new chapter in her life, running a dog-walking business in Smalley, Derbyshire. When approached for comments, she remained tight-lipped, choosing not to engage with the media.
Esteem Multi-Academy Trust, overseeing Holbrook School, emphasized their swift response and high standards, noting that Wilson was suspended immediately after the online activities surfaced. The trust assured a thorough investigation followed, leading to Wilson's dismissal in July 2023, and the case's referral to the Teacher Regulation Authority for a detailed hearing.
