American tennis pro Sachia Vickery had a rough day at the US Open on Thursday, crashing out in the second round of qualifiers at Flushing Meadows. The 30-year-old, currently ranked No. 559 in the world, faced off against 20-year-old German player Ella Siedel and couldn’t keep up, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. The match? Over in a mere 72 minutes.
Vickery had managed to breeze past Anastasiya Soboleva in the first round of qualifiers for the year’s final Grand Slam. But Siedel, ranked No. 105, proved too much, marking yet another early exit for Vickery at a major tournament in 2024. Earlier this year, she also failed to qualify for the Australian Open and opted out of competing at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Once ranked as high as No. 73 back in 2018, Vickery’s on-court struggles continue as she searches for her first win at this level. Despite earning over $2 million in her 14-year career, the wins just aren’t coming lately.
While her tennis game may be faltering, Vickery is making plenty of noise off the court. Earlier this year, the athlete joined OnlyFans, the subscription-based platform often associated with spicier content, with a bio teasing material “too hot for Instagram.” Her move into this space has kept her name in headlines, for better or worse.
Things heated up even more this week when Vickery dropped a bombshell on Instagram, stating she now requires a pre-date deposit of $1,000 for anyone hoping to take her out. “I no longer date for free due to the behavior of men,” she declared, sharing her CashApp handle for interested parties. She’s also been open about selling personal photos on the platform.
“I’m blown away by how much I made in just my first two days on OnlyFans - it’s the easiest money I’ve ever earned, and I’m loving it,” Vickery shared recently.
Vickery’s candid approach to her side hustle hasn’t sat well with everyone. Social media has been buzzing with reactions, and not all of them are kind. Comments like “Disgusting” and “I don’t respect Vickery for this” have popped up, showing a divide among her followers over her personal choices.
Still, she’s not backing down. The tennis star has made it clear she’s unapologetic, embracing her open-mindedness and dismissing the haters. “I don’t care what people think of me,” she’s stated, standing firm in her decisions.
Vickery isn’t the only tennis player dipping into the OnlyFans pool. Aussie bad boy Nick Kyrgios and French player Alexandre Muller have also joined the platform, exploring new revenue streams beyond the court. Additionally, Arina Rodionova launched her account in January after a personal split, proving this trend is catching on in the tennis world.
As the 2025 US Open approaches - running from August 24 to September 7 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center - all eyes will be on whether Vickery can bounce back from this year’s setbacks. For now, though, her off-court moves might just be stealing the spotlight.
