TikTok's Latest Crackdown: A Massive Video Purge in Pakistan

TikTok's recently released Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2025 is turning heads with its impressive figures. The global social media giant has reaffirmed its dedication to a safer online environment by removing a staggering 25,448,992 videos in Pakistan. This move highlights TikTok's proactive approach, achieving a 99.7% proactive removal rate and swiftly axing 96.2% of these videos within just 24 hours of their upload.

Globally, TikTok has been on a cleaning spree, removing around 189 million videos, which represent about 0.7% of all uploads. Of these, 163.9 million were detected and removed automatically. Interestingly, not all actions were final—about 7.4 million videos found their way back onto the platform after being reviewed. The proactive removal rate globally was an impressive 99.1%, with 94.4% of content eliminated within the first day.

Diving Deeper: What's Behind the Numbers?

Delving deeper into the reasons behind these removals, TikTok's report reveals that 30.6% of the deleted videos contained sensitive or adult content. Safety violations accounted for 14%, while 6.1% of videos breached privacy and security guidelines. Misinformation was another major concern, leading to the removal of 45% of flagged videos, while 23.8% were taken down due to AI-generated or edited content.

“Our commitment to maintaining a transparent and safe platform is unwavering,” TikTok asserted in its latest community guidelines report.

In addition to videos, TikTok also took action against fake and underage accounts, removing 76.9 million fake profiles and 25.9 million accounts suspected to belong to users under 13. This vigilant action underscores TikTok’s ongoing efforts to ensure its platform remains secure and user-friendly.
