Const. Parsa Hazeri, aged 27, is now at the center of a legal storm, following his arrest on charges connected to the alleged sexual assault of a female youth last year. These accusations have led to half a dozen charges against the officer, highlighting a serious breach of trust within the Toronto Police Service.
The charges were formally laid by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and include sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching. Hazeri is also accused of transmitting sexually explicit material to a minor and communicating with them for illicit purposes. Additional charges involve breach of trust and careless use of a firearm, piling up the legal woes for the officer.
The SIU, under the direction of Joseph Martino, stated they had "reasonable grounds to believe" that these criminal offenses transpired between September and December 2025. The agency maintains silence on further details, respecting court proceedings that are now in motion.
In a decisive move, Hazeri was apprehended at the SIU headquarters on Thursday morning. He was released with specific conditions, notably avoiding any communication, direct or indirect, with the victim involved in the case. His next court appearance is slated for July 17 in Toronto.
“When the Toronto Police Service became aware of the complaint, measures were promptly taken to suspend the officer and involve the SIU,” a police spokesperson shared.
Having been part of the Toronto Police for three years, Hazeri was working in the 33 Division at the time of the alleged incidents. His suspension came swiftly after the accusations surfaced in January 2026, in line with the Community Safety and Policing Act. Toronto police promptly handed the case over to the SIU for thorough investigation.
Chief Myron Demkiw has since initiated procedures to terminate Hazeri's employment and has already suspended him without pay. This reflects a stern stance from the police leadership on such serious allegations.
Clayton Campbell, head of the Toronto Police Association, acknowledged the charges in a statement. He noted these stemmed from incidents that allegedly occurred while Hazeri was off-duty, further complicating the case.
This incident has once again highlighted the critical role of the SIU in addressing severe accusations against police personnel, ensuring accountability and justice are pursued with rigor.
