In a significant legal outcome, Patrick Powers, a 60-year-old man from Waynesville, Ohio, is facing 8 to 12 years behind bars. After pleading guilty to a staggering 63 counts relating to the dissemination, transfer, and possession of child sexual abuse material (C-SAM), Powers received his sentence on Tuesday in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
The investigation revealed Powers was actively engaging with ten individuals via Kik Messenger from July to November 2025, exchanging images and videos depicting children in sexual situations. Authorities discovered these incriminating materials after executing a search warrant on Powers' cell phone, uncovering what they described as an "extensive collection" of C-SAM.
Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell emphasized the gravity of the crime, stating, "Every time a defendant exchanges child sexual abuse images and videos, it causes real and lasting harm to these innocent victims by keeping their exploitation alive." This statement underscores the serious nature of Powers' actions and the justice served by this sentencing.
Upon completing his prison term, Powers will be mandated to register as a Tier II sex offender, adding another layer of legal consequence to his actions. The diligent efforts of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the prosecutor's team were acknowledged in bringing this case to justice.
