The Inside Scoop on Nude Cruises

If you thought nude beaches were bold, wait until you hear about nude cruises! Earlier this year, the buzz was all about these unique adventures, where 2,000 passengers bare it all on the high seas. But what happens when someone gets a bit too excited?

Kat Whitmire, who organizes these eye-catching cruises for Bare Necessities, shared what really goes on when the dress code is no clothes at all. Speaking with Business Insider, she made it clear that these cruises are not meant to be sexual or NSFW. However, if someone does get a little too happy, there's a plan for that.

Keeping Cool: Whitmire's Advice

Whitmire offered some practical advice for anyone finding themselves in a potentially embarrassing situation. "We say that if they start to feel things around moving down there, jump in cold water, or think about baseball," she revealed. This advice is more than just humorous – it's a part of the ship's etiquette.

In fact, one past cruise passenger confirmed this advice on Reddit, clarifying that arousal is rare. "This cruise is very non-sexual, so a man would want to hide it somehow. Non-nudists think about this a lot more than nudists do," he noted.

Rules of Engagement: Beyond the Bare Necessities

Nude cruising doesn’t mean no rules. Bare Necessities has several stipulations in place, including a photo policy: always ask before snapping someone else's picture. And surprisingly, there is one place on the ship where clothes are a must – the formal dining room.

Whitmire explains the reason behind the dining area dress code: "No nips, no bits and no butts," largely because hot trays and naked bodies don’t mix well. This rule helps ensure that both staff and passengers enjoy a smooth meal service.

Before becoming a full-time organizer, Whitmire and her husband worked as models on the cruises, a gig that started with a friend's offer. They eventually joined the crew, leading to her current role as a sales associate since 2010.
