Georgetown Man Charged Again in Child Exploitation Probe

The troubling case of Benjamin Haden, a 24-year-old originally from Waterloo and now residing in Georgetown, Ontario, is deepening as authorities lay additional charges in an ongoing child exploitation investigation. This case first grabbed attention on March 13, when the Waterloo Regional Police Service and Thunder Bay Police Service executed search warrants at properties in Waterloo and Georgetown.

Haden was initially charged with several counts, including making and possessing child sexual assault and exploitation material, luring a minor, and making explicit material available to children. On July 13, the investigation took a sharper turn, leading to new charges: six counts of luring a child under the age of 16, five counts related to making child exploitation material, and further charges for making explicit content available to minors.

Police Seek More Victims in Expanding Case

Concerned there may be more victims, Waterloo Regional Police have released Haden's photo, urging anyone who may have been affected to come forward. They revealed that Haden operated under various usernames like Haroldkumar2321 and Haroldkumar1120, crafting a deceptive web to lure both adults and children. He is also known to have used aliases such as Ben, Benji, and Emma in his schemes.

“He frequently contacted the same individuals using different names and often initiated conversation by falsely claiming to have found the person’s phone number written in a public location,” police said, highlighting the manipulative tactics involved.

It was reported that he would often offer vape pods, alcohol, or drugs in exchange for sexual services, showcasing a predatory pattern aimed at exploiting the vulnerable.

Community Encouragement and Support Networks

The police urge anyone with information to reach out to the Waterloo Regional Police at 519-570-9777, extensions 8397 or 8264. Additional support is available through the Victim Services of Waterloo Region for those in need of immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, and referrals. They can be contacted at 519-585-2363 or through their website at www.vswr.ca.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and community support in tackling such heinous crimes. Authorities are hopeful that by shedding light on the investigation, more victims will feel empowered to step forward, aiding in the pursuit of justice.
