Julia Filippo recently shed light on the faux feud that catapulted her into the online spotlight. The OnlyFans sensation, aged 23, dished on her "fake beef" with fellow creators Camilla Araujo and Sophie Rain during an appearance on Gia Guidice's "Casual Convos" podcast. Filippo recounted how Araujo, known for her internet antics, first came onto the scene three years before Filippo's own rise to fame. The duo originally met back in high school, according to Filippo.
"She would just troll the internet. That’s how she blew up," Filippo said, referring to Araujo's online strategy. Initially, Filippo was just lip-syncing on TikTok, but thanks to Araujo's encouragement, she soon found herself collaborating on podcasts and taking on an assistant role.
"We started this fake beef. We got introduced to Sophie Rain, and we, like blew up, for this girl drama," Filippo shared, explaining the trio's orchestrated drama that led to a viral explosion.
The faux drama revolved around a supposed friendship betrayal, which gained traction when Filippo moved from being Camilla's assistant to working for Sophie Rain. "I left Camilla to be Sophie Rain’s assistant," Filippo explained, adding a fictional story about "stealing her dogs." The internet's reaction was swift and harsh, branding Filippo as a "bad friend."
"The internet thought I was a really bad friend, which actually took a really big toll on me," Filippo admitted, sharing her struggle with public perception. Ultimately, the drama ended with the trio making up, signaling their reconciliation with a simple hug.
Growing up in North Carolina within a "pretty small family," Filippo initially envisioned a future in child development and teaching. However, disillusionment over potential earnings led her to explore the creator economy. With her mother's support, she ventured into OnlyFans, using her newfound wealth to support her family.
Today, Filippo enjoys a vast following, boasting 1 million Instagram fans and 3.7 million on TikTok. While Araujo and Rain have even larger audiences, with millions of followers each, Filippo embraces the opportunity to showcase "a whole different side" of herself online.
