Michaela Rylaarsdam, known for her adult content on OnlyFans, has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The 32-year-old faced legal troubles more than a year after a client’s death occurred during a video shoot. The incident adds to the ongoing legal debates within the creator economy, where accountability and safety in content creation are under scrutiny.
The events unfolded on April 17, 2023, at Rylaarsdam's home in San Bernardino County, California. The victim, Michael Dale, aged 55, traveled to her residence after connecting through a website often used to meet escorts. This platform set the stage for the high-risk fetish session that ended in tragedy.
An affidavit revealed that Dale paid Rylaarsdam over $11,000 and requested specific BDSM activities. The instructions involved binding him, encasing him in cling film, and gluing boots to his feet. Videos later recovered showed Dale in peril, restrained with a plastic bag over his head and duct tape around his mouth, severely restricting his ability to breathe.
“This case is a sobering reminder of the potential dangers involved in high-risk fetish activities,” commented a legal representative.
When Dale turned blue during filming, Rylaarsdam, a married mother of three, called for emergency help, attempting CPR until authorities arrived. Despite her efforts, Dale was unresponsive and declared brain dead upon hospital arrival. The medical examiner ruled his death as asphyxia, categorizing it as a homicide.
Rylaarsdam was initially charged with second-degree murder but later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, leading to her current sentence. Since her arrest in February 2025, she has been held at Las Colinas Detention Facility in San Diego County.
This case underscores the severe legal and personal consequences when safety is compromised in paid private encounters, ultimately turning into a criminal case.
