Orem Man's Legal Troubles Deepen

In a troubling turn of events, Andrew Thomas Oldroyd, a 37-year-old from Orem, Utah, is facing a slew of new charges related to child sexual abuse. Currently imprisoned for a separate offense, Oldroyd's legal woes have mounted following the identification of a past victim. The charges include rape, enticing a minor, multiple counts of forcible sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor, and distributing harmful material to a minor.

Allegations Surface from 2025 Incident

The latest allegations stem from an incident in August 2025 involving a 16-year-old girl and an adult man she met on Snapchat, later identified as Oldroyd. According to reports, Oldroyd enticed the minor with offers to use his car and obtain nicotine, culminating in a meeting in a church parking lot in Provo where he allegedly abused the teenager.

“I felt used and manipulated,” said the 16-year-old victim, recounting her experience with Oldroyd.

In exchange for explicit images, the victim was allowed to use Oldroyd's car, leading to further meetings and allegations of abuse. Investigators later found child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on Oldroyd's phone, confirming the victim's account.

Previous Conviction Details

Oldroyd's criminal record dates back to November 2025 when he pled guilty to sodomy on a child. This past offense involved a 12-year-old girl he met online, resulting in a sentence of up to 25 years at the Utah State Correctional Facility. The disturbing pattern of targeting minors through social media platforms like Snapchat is evident in both cases.

As the legal process unfolds, it's crucial to remember that these charges are only allegations. Oldroyd, like all arrested individuals, remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
