Chelsea Handler has turned the spotlight on a little-known chapter of her life, revealing the unexpected reason she now only hires female ski instructors. The comedian shared the intriguing tale on Tana Mongeau's podcast Brand Safe, where she spoke about how a passionate encounter with a male ski instructor made her rethink her hiring preferences.
Handler, known for her adventurous spirit, decided to take a break from her bustling career to indulge in her love for skiing. "I'm glad all of my interests kind of relate to my career, and I was able to make a career out of my interests," she reflected, highlighting the synergy between her professional and personal passions.
What started as a short hiatus escalated into a full-fledged commitment to mastering the slopes. "I thought I was going to take, like, two years off," she explained. During this period, Handler immersed herself in skiing at Whistler, Canada. "I spent 55 days skiing every single day," Handler recounted, detailing her dedication by staying at the Four Seasons for the entire winter season under the guidance of a private instructor.
“It’s when someone’s in charge of your body in any sort of way, like in charge of keeping me safe, I’m attracted to them,” Handler explained.
It was during this intense experience that Handler found herself romantically involved with her instructor. "I paid some man who I ended up sleeping with," she admitted during her chat with Mongeau. This revelation led to a significant change in her approach to hiring ski instructors.
Handler’s decision to switch exclusively to female instructors was a direct result of her fling. "So then I had to start hiring a woman. I had to do that too," she noted, connecting her attraction to the protective role of her instructors. Her candidness about these personal insights continues to engage audiences, adding layers to her already dynamic persona.
A ski lover for years, Handler regularly updates her fans from Whistler and even organizes ladies-only ski trips, further showcasing her passion for the sport. Her openness about her personal life, from flings to skiing adventures, remains an integral part of her public persona, resonating with audiences who appreciate her honesty and humor.
