In a case that has gripped the Danbury community, Justin Edward Prescott, 43, has entered a guilty plea to charges of second-degree possession of child sexual abuse material. Prescott's legal troubles began with his arrest in September 2025, following a comprehensive investigation by Connecticut State Police. The probe initially started in December 2024, when a suspicious IP address linked to filing downloads of child sexual abuse material was detected.
Prescott was apprehended after police traced the IP activity back to his residence on Mountainview Terrace, leading to a search and the seizure of electronic devices. Among the items taken was a laptop containing 93 image files and 10 video files that depicted child sexual abuse material. These files primarily involved female minors aged approximately 8 to 14 years.
“This case underscores the commitment to investigating and prosecuting those involved in such serious offenses,” stated a representative of the Connecticut State Police.
Following his arrest, Prescott initially pleaded not guilty to charges that included tampering with physical evidence and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. However, his court records now reflect a guilty plea for the class C felony of second-degree possession of child sexual abuse material. The charges of promoting a minor in an obscene performance have since been removed from the docket, while no plea has been entered on the evidence tampering charge.
Prescott's next court appearance is set for a disposition hearing on September 17. As the city awaits the outcome, this case serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and robust legal action against those involved in such offenses.
