Star Power Joins Jonathan Bailey's Legal Drama

Jonathan Bailey is set to headline Netflix's gripping new legal drama, which just announced an impressive roster of additional cast members. This highly anticipated, yet untitled, film is inspired by the real-life legal battle against chemical titan Monsanto, a case that has captivated many for its David-versus-Goliath narrative. Laura Dern, an Oscar-winning talent, was previously confirmed, and now, fresh faces join the lineup, bringing even more excitement to the project.

Who Else is On Board?

Netflix has unveiled a dynamic ensemble featuring LaKeith Stanfield of Knives Out fame, David Duchovny from The X-Files, and Women of the Movement's Julia McDermott. Joining them are Melonie Diaz, known for Fruitvale Station, Bilal Hasna of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, and Greg Kinnear from You. With such a diverse and talented cast, viewers can expect a compelling portrayal of this landmark case.

“Stories about the 'little guy' taking on huge institutions seem few and far between,” said co-producer Adam McKay. “People love and need these movies. They always have and always will.”

The Real-Life Inspiration

In this riveting tale, Bailey plays Brent Wisner, a young attorney tasked with the seemingly impossible case against Monsanto. His client, Dewayne 'Lee' Johnson, a high school groundskeeper, was the first to challenge Monsanto in court over claims that their product Roundup caused his non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The trial's outcome not only favored Johnson but also set a legal precedent, leading to numerous subsequent lawsuits against Monsanto's parent company, Bayer, and resulting in billions in damages.

Directed by John Lee Hancock, who brought us Saving Mr. Banks, the film was initially meant to feature Glen Powell and Anthony Mackie. Hancock, along with Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc, and Ned Benson, crafted the screenplay, promising a narrative filled with both tension and triumph. With no release date yet announced, anticipation builds for this must-watch drama.
