Charges Filed After Lengthy Investigation

In a case that has captured local attention, a Vancouver man has been charged nearly two years after a mother reported an unsettling online interaction involving her teenage daughter. Geordie Roxburgh, 36, now faces serious charges including internet luring of a person under 16, possession of child sexual abuse material, and unlawful firearm possession, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The investigation, which began in April 2024, was set in motion when a concerned mother discovered her daughter had been communicating with an adult man via text messages. The situation escalated when it was revealed that the man allegedly requested intimate photographs from the teenager, offering money in return. This alarming discovery prompted the mother to alert authorities, sparking the investigation.

Arrest and Upcoming Court Appearance

Following months of investigative work, Roxburgh was arrested in December 2024. The charges were formally filed last month, as per the police report. He is slated to make his next court appearance on May 5. Authorities have not clarified whether Roxburgh is currently in custody.

“The safety of minors online is a priority, and we take these allegations very seriously,” a Vancouver Police Department spokesperson commented.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance in the digital age, where online interactions can sometimes take dangerous turns. The Vancouver community remains alert as they await further developments in this case.
